I just spent a few days on the island of Caye Caulker, off the coast of Belize. It’s quite a nice place, with excellent conditions for snorkeling and diving — crystal-clear water, shallow areas, and lots of colorful coral and fish.

People there speak a mix of Creole, English, and Spanish, which is at times quite amusing to listen to. However, people aren’t particularly friendly, and I’ve occasionally experienced some unpleasant comments shouted at me.

I stayed at Tina’s Backpacker Hostel, where I spent most of Monday relaxing in a hammock. Tomorrow, I’m heading into the Guatemalan jungle to explore the Mayan ruins at Tikal. Really looking forward to it.

Hasta pronto!
