We are about to embark on a trip to the Philippines, an archipelago of 7000 islands in South East Asia. It is famous for sugar powdered beaches, limestone cliffs, coral reefs, exotic animals and happy, smiling people.
Máncora in the north of Peru is known for having some of the best beaches in the country. It offers white sand and warm, tropical weather around the year.
Arequipa is the second biggest city in Peru. It is surrounded by 6000m high volcanoes and is often called the white city, as most of the buildings are made from white volcanic rock. It is also home to one of the largest and most beautiful convents in the world.
A hike to the Rainbow Mountain is a great day trip from Cuzco. It is known for its characteristic stripes of many different colors, which arise due to a variety of minerals in the soil. The mountain has a stunning location at 5200m of altitude in the Peruvian Andes.
Machu Picchu is a must-visit when traveling to Cuzco in Peru. It is known as the lost city of the Incas and it is considered as one of the seven wonders of the world.
After a few days in Lima, we flew over to Cuzco. The city is situated at an altitude of 3326m and used to be the capital of the Inca empire, which once ranged from Quito in Ecuador to Santiago in Chile. It is also considered as the archaeological capital of the Americas.
We arrived to Lima on Sunday evening, and we are staying in a beautiful little boutique hotel called Casa Nuestra in a part of the city called Barranco. It is now full of trendy bars and restaurants, and it is also famous for its beautiful street art.
We are about to start a 3 week trip to Peru. Our trip will start in the capital, the cosmopolitan city of Lima. Afterwards we will go to Cuzco in the Andes mountains, where we are also planning to visit Machu Picchu and the Rainbow Mountain. We will also spend a few days in Arequipa, Peru's second biggest city. Finally the plan is to soak some sun in Máncora in the north of country.
